The Cost of Diabetes – Treatment Takes a Toll In the U.S.:  79 million people have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, or 35 percent of the population. The drivers for this crisis are obesity and inactivity. The potential costs and opportunity of this crisis are staggering, a potential savings of $5.7 billion and prevention of 885,000 cases of type 2 diabetes.

Is There a Way to Reverse the Trend? Yes! The National Institutes of Health-led study, supported by CDC, of which the CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program is based on, found that by making modest lifestyle changes, study participants lost five to seven percent of their body weight and reduced their risk of developing Type-2 diabetes by 58 percent.
