In the CEO Culture of Health Initiative, participating
employers select one of four national, evidence-based programs to serve as a
road map for their comprehensive worksite wellness program. The CEO Cancer Gold
Standard is one of the choices.
What is the Gold Standard?
The CEO
Cancer Gold Standard™ is a series of health-related recommendations
with special emphasis on cancer, developed by the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, to promote healthy lifestyles in the
workplace. The Gold Standard is a
comprehensive program with three main goals:
-
Risk Reduction: reducing the risk of cancer
by not using tobacco and by maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
Note that the risks for other chronic conditions, including diabetes and
cardiac disease, are also reduced by implementing the Gold Standard.
- Early Detection: detecting cancer at the
earliest possible stage, when treatment has the best of chance of
improving outcomes, through age and gender-appropriate screenings, and
- Quality Care: ensuring access to the best
available cancer treatment.
For each of these goals, CEO
Cancer Gold Standard organizations:
Sustain a culture that values, supports and
promotes a healthy lifestyle and provides the support needed when a
diagnosis of cancer becomes a reality, and offer benefits and programs that help to prevent
cancer, detect it earlier and provide access to high-quality treatment,
including cancer clinical trials.
