New Member Benefit: Purchaser Self-Assessment Tool

We are pleased to announce that MBGH members now have access to the National Business Coalition on Health’s Purchaser Self-Assessment Tool (PSAT)1The PSAT is a comprehensive, easy-to-use online tool that helps busy benefits and wellness professionals achieve value-based purchasing.

The PSAT provides MBGH members a customized analysis of your progress in adopting value-driven health benefit practices in comparison to other employers. Based on the assessment, MBGH will assist you in identifying actionable steps to improve the health of your employee and your organization’s bottom line.

The assessment covers nine topic areas related to practices and activities employers may be using to maximize the value of their health care benefit strategies.  These include:

  1. Incentive strategies
  2. Health and wellness support strategies
  3. Strategies to help employees manage chronic conditions
  4. Incentive strategies to encourage value-based decisions about plan selection and health care utilization
  5. Employee communication strategies
  6. Provider, vendor and community-facing strategies
  7. Sources of data gathered
  8. Metrics tracked
  9. Expertise used to leverage data and conduct strategic analyses

After completing the assessment, you are given a scoring summary that highlights strengths and opportunities. Based on the responses to all questions, you are given an aggregate ranking. MBGH will provide you a list of the strategies you can adopt to improve your score and help you prioritize next steps.

To get started, contact Cristie Upshaw Travis at 901-767-9585 x224 to discuss next steps.
