Employee Wellness Programs Can Reduce Health Costs, Hospital Admissions

From the National Business Coalition on Health : According to a report on PepsiCo's Healthy Living wellness program published in Health Affairs, employee participation in BOTH disease and lifestyle-management workplace wellness programs resulted in a cost reduction of $160 per month and a 66% decline in hospital admissions. The disease-management program alone helped employees cut health costs by $136 each month.

Employees that only participated in the lifestyle-management initiative did not have substantial medical cost savings they did miss less work.

Targeting lifestyle management programs to employees with chronic diseases and in disease management produces the best economic value.
