First
Horizon is one of the thirty leading area employers committed to creating a
Culture of Health within their organization. First Horizon signed on to MBGH’s
Culture of Health Initiative on January 3rd of last year and they have been
expanding upon their health and wellness programming ever since.
First Horizon chose to
participate in the
CEO Cancer Gold Standard
Accreditation program and in
doing so made the commitment to a
comprehensive worksite wellness program that not only fights cancer within the workplace through programs and policies addressing tobacco, nutrition, physical activity, prevention and screening, but also helps reduce the risk
for other chronic conditions including diabetes and cardiac disease.
Some
of the ways that First Horizon is meeting the standards of this nationally
accredited program is by enforcing a tobacco-free work environment, providing
employees with opportunities to participate in physical activity and nutrition
programming, such as Weight Watchers and HealthMiles, as well as increasing
accessibility to preventative screenings, including breast, colorectal, and
cervical.
Through
incorporating a variety of programs and policies into their wellness strategy
First Horizon has been recognized by the CEO Cancer Roundtable as a Gold
Standard Company. Kim Simmons, leader of First Horizon’s thirteen-person
wellness committee, told MBGH about being a Nationally recognized organization.
“Being accredited with
the CEO Cancer Gold Standard shows how much emphasis and value the company
places on employee health,” said Simmons. “First Horizon has put action behind
the statements it makes about caring for its employees.”
Along
with participating in MBGH’s CEO Culture of Health initiative and being
recognized through the CEO Cancer Gold Standard Program, First Horizon is a
member employer of MBGH receiving added membership benefits such as extended
technical assistance and exclusive tools and resources.
