competitive choices
MBGH has negotiated arrangements for self-insured employers with managed care options at Methodist Healthcare and LeBonheur Childrens Medical Center. MBGH also has health plan and hospital "users groups" which provide members with a forum for identifying common issues and addressing concerns as a group. 

MBGH also has a group purchase arrangement for an employee assistance program through CONCERN, a behavioral health network pricing arrangement, and an arrangement with Mayo Clinic for purchase of their employee communication material including a self-care guide book, internet site, newsletter, and nurse call line.

utilization management
MBGH members may choose to use MBGH's arrangement with American Health Holding (AHH) to provide utilization management services for employees enrolled in a PPO network. This program for group health provides precertification and case management for medical, surgical and behavioral health.

By partnering with AHH, Memphis-area employers receive the advantage of locally provided and managed services through MBGH and the advantage of the expertise of a national company that can call upon their expertise in special conditions case management, electronic interfaces with third party administrators, internet-based medical management, and disease management. AHH is URAC-accredited for utilization management and case management. Utilization management services are patient-centered and focus on helping providers do what is in the best interest of the patient and their family.

employee health
MBGH members have access to: (1) a nationally recognized American Cancer Society pilot project for work-site health promotion, early identification and wellness-friendly corporate policies; (2) health promotion and awareness toolkits addressing cardiac care, physical activity, nutrition and smoking cessation; (3) a campaign to increase employee awareness regarding preventable medical mistakes and what individuals can do to protect themselves and their families and what their employer is doing through MBGH to facilitate reduction of mistakes among area hospitals; (4) a group purchase of Mayo Clinic material to support employee and dependent lifestyle and treatment decisions; (5) work-site health fairs. MBGH has a full-time staff person dedicated to working on membership-wide initiatives in this area as well as developing strategies to address a member's specific needs.
